The Monster Poem by Sandra Martyres

The Monster

it arrived
surreptitiously
it attacked him
quite suddenly
it consumed him
this once healthy man
it emaciated him
he is half his size now
it robbed him of his youth
his brow is deeply furrowed
it grew and multiplied
causing him excruciating pain
but before it destroys him
let us pray that he is rid of it
