The Morning Run Poem by David Wood

The Morning Run

Rating: 5.0

Along the river, and over the bridge
Running along to the grassy ridge

With autumn leaves lining the path
Mud all around, a sticky mud bath

Drizzle coming down hitting your face
Going quite hard but keeping a pace

Running along past the factory gate
Workers running too, getting there late

Puffing and panting up the steep hill
Smells from the cafe makes you feel ill

Up to the junction, and turn to the right
Being missed by a car that gives you a fright

Into the park and stepping up a cog
Past the old lady with her yappy dog

Over the bridge, now its not too far
Along the river and back to the car.

Sitting in the car resting your feet
Happy now the run is complete.
