Everyone has a motive, whether good or bad.
Sometimes, evil intentions hide behind good deeds, wearing kindness
like a borrowed face, so the world will applaud them, while behind closed doors,
they wound the very people who trusted them.
Because people long to be seen as good, they hide behind religion,
titles, or whatever they choose to believe in.
Yet behind the mask... they become more frightening than the evil they claim to condemn.
Tell me...
has their conscience fallen silent?
How do they sleep at night, knowing the havoc they have caused, the hearts they have broken, the pain they have left behind?
I wonder
what crosses their minds
when they lay their heads
upon their pillows.
Do they ask the Almighty for forgiveness? Or do they simply
close their eyes and sleep like a child untouched by guilt?
How can some human hearts grow so cold?
Making the good ones' question everything they once believed.
Life can be cruel.
People can be selfish.
As the Bible says,
'The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked; who can know it? '
Perhaps that is why we must guard our hearts,
choose ourselves without losing our humanity,
and never become the very thing that once broke us.
