The Night We Danced Poem by Roisin McNally

The Night We Danced

The night that we first danced, my love
Do you not recall it as well as I?
The stars were glued the the velvet night
As the wind whispered secrets to the trees

And the Moon lit up our world.
You took me in your arms, my love
And brushed my hair from my eyes
So that I could see your eyes

Where I finally understood why the stars
Were never as bright when your around
We danced under the trees on the grass
With the only sound the wind

And your heart beat a steady pace
While mine speeded off
When I looked at you
We're alone now, my love

Alone in our own little world
In each others arms
Where forever we shall dance and kiss
And let our love finally show us the way

The way to eternal happiness
As long as we are together, my love.
That was my most favoured night.
The night we first danced.
