The Night We Were Close Poem by Claude Davis III

The Night We Were Close

With your head on my chest
I hold and rub your gentle hand.
More time is all I would want to request.
But sadly, I'm not in a position to command.

So every wonderful second of the hours
I spent with you I have cherished.
The way I felt couldn't be measured by the tallest towers.
Which made me proud to say ''my shyness has perished''.

All I can do now is wait,
Wait for the next time I can see you.
Wait for the next time I can hear your voice.
Wait for the next time I can hold you tight.

Wait for those moments
To happen once more.
So yet again I can enjoy your beauty.
Just like I did with you before.

By holding you close
With your head right next to my heart.
Cause that's where I want you to be.
So you wont be able to depart.
