The Nympho.... Poem by RIC BASTASA

The Nympho....

all day i was
inside a box.
this legal room
where i cannot
even move
a leg.

when will this end
i never bother
the job pays a lot
and i am solving
other people's mess
and that is very
very challenging

like the way i solve
a word puzzle
or a scrabble or how
blocks are moved
and dissolve into
an empty space.

there is a point of
starvation and a point
of eating all these in
your system
and so you get fat and
sluggish
like a thyroid deprived
of its
levothyrax.

one moment i walk
out of the door and
stand on the patio
where a garden below
stretches like
a river of the Nile.

the hawaiian palms have
grown tall and lavish.
yellow flowers are blooming
under a rainy sky.

a black bird arrives and
hovers on an electric wire
and with its black eyes
it stares at me: as though
telling me that it was once
a woman degraded into a crow
because it had sinned much
in its previous life
as a nympho.
