The Observant Poem by Randy McClave

The Observant

From what I did see
They blinded me,
They plucked out both of my eyes
Now no longer do I see truth or lies.
From what I did hear
They removed my left and right ear,
No longer can I listen
Whether they'd be a liar or a Christian.
From what I had spoke
Others I did provoke,
Now, no longer can I scream from my lung
They have removed my tongue.
From what I did touch
From what I held and did clutch,
That they did know and understand
So, they then cut off my left and right hand.
From me trying to runaway
On that very forsaken day,
Because, I tied to escape and retreat
They removed both of my feet.
I still have my words and my memory
From all the thoughts and scenery,
And I still remember all the books I read
Then they killed me dead.
