The Off-White Shade - Poem by Nakul Sood

Love rests softly,
On your off-white blouse,
Just above the swell
Of your bosom,
And it stays there,
When you move your head,
Though uneasy to discern—
Like light playing a trick,
Hiding in brief shadows,
Dissolving in backgrounds.

But, it is more clear
When you are still,
Purposeless and at ease;
And, it’s a shame,
That you haven’t more time,
To be—
And, the round bumps
Of your shoulders,
Stretched as they are,
Haven’t more time to be
And, your abstract gaze
Can fall on nothing,
And thus not comprehend.

But when you look at me,
It disappears,
Because you are looking—
In attention and detail,
Like a shy primrose
From human presence.

But, it is more frequent,
And of late
I have seen it more often,
And, thus do infer,
That you, are falling in love with me.
