The Old Neighborhood Poem by Randy McClave

The Old Neighborhood

I walked around the old neighborhood
Where my parents house once stood,
But, it stands there no more
To go back in time sometimes I wish I could.

Across the street was the local grocery store
That business my family once did adore,
The owner gave us credit when we did shop
I still remember inside with it's ancient decor.

I still remember the old school bus stop
And also after school where we got our pop,
Then with the neighborhood kids we would play
It all always happened after the same school bus drop.

Just a couple of blocks or so away
Was the church where my brother and I went to pray,
Now that church has been bought
It is now a rummage store today.

With a smile I still remember dreams I had sought
Some of them I actually caught,
My life and it's memories there was learned and taught
Now my house and the neighborhood is a parking lot.
