The One She Loved Truly Poem by Francis Duggan

The One She Loved Truly

Rating: 4.5

Her mum and dad did not want him as her lover or wife
And prevailed on her to shut him out of her life
So her relationship with him she brought to an end
She reluctantly told him she no longer wished to have him as a partner or friend
But when all hopes of getting back with him has gone
She still thinks about him and time on her ticking on
In her early sixties time has become her foe
She still grieves for a love that ended long ago
When her parents in her life did have a big say
And they in the same grave now forever lay
One love of her past in her mind is alive
Her love for a lover she jilted in her does survive
A bad decision in her life she lives to regret
The one she loved truly she cannot forget.
