The One Who Can Smile Poem by Francis Duggan

The One Who Can Smile

The one who can smile in the face of despair
And never complain or does not say life is unfair
Does not live as a failure despite what some might say
For their positive attitude to life she or her leads the way

Through tough times their positive attitude with them does remain
And though down on their luck they do rise again
Though the odds stacked against them they refuse to give in
Those who try the hardest eventually does win

Though the odds stacked against them in life they battle on
The hope for things better from their minds not gone
In their thoughts there never is any room for self doubt
Though financially down they refuse to be counted out

Those who are doing it tough on their side of the town
With a smile on their faces though financially down
And to negative thoughts refuse for to give in
Eventually in life can expect for to win.
