The Others Poem by James Grengs

The Others

Rating: 2.8

They are here, haunting me, in the depths of my heart's memory.
They are here, lined up in the future, in sight of my heart.
They are, the girls who I have felt some strange thing for.
They are, the girls that I have yet to feel for.
But here, in the midst of pain past and future,
You stand, the key to dispelling these ghosts.
For any attachment, any fool's hope,
Brought about by my stupidly longing for these,
Is forgotten, at once, when you call me and talk.
How much more then, my love, when you stand at my side?
The others, who once I have longingly looked for,
Pale in comparison to what you are now.
And how could I feel any love in the future,
If then, like as now, I'm completely tied down?
My loyalty to one must run true
If before I was taken I was true to them;
My loyalty to one will run true
If before I like them I tell them of you.
Oh! I would sooner be taken by one,
Then still be wishing for the others,
Who I can never have.
