The Outer Poem by Katherine Egan

The Outer

Rating: 5.0

Today,
People care about outer appearance.
Weight.
Color of our skin.
Color of our hair.
Whether we wear makeup or not.
Our clothes.
Our face.
The outer.
The inner us,
The stay up late with Disney movies,
The stare at the stars,
The dive into the deep pool,
The climb a cliff for fun,
The swim in a river,
The paint splatters on the walls.
The laugh,
The smile,
The colors inside that make us who we are.
The light in our eyes,
The twinkle in our soul,
The fire in our heart.
Do they know that?
No.
Do you know that?
Yes.
Today,
You tend to compare,
Your worst to
Their best.
If you learn to,
Compare your best with
Their best.
It will be different.
What you think of yourself,
Will change.

Witty rendition of words set aside for sober reflection. Really insightful, focused and factual. Thanks for sharing Katherine.
