The Outsider (Mason's Poem) Poem by Emiley Krystine

The Outsider (Mason's Poem)

They see you coming;
They look away.
They ignore your opinion;
No matter what you say.

You react with anger;
they respond with shame.
You wonder why
you're in this f*cked up game.

You feel so alone,
so empty inside.
You look on both sides,
but niether are bright.

When will it end,
This pain you feel?
Your life is so desolate,
it's becoming unreal.

You want one thing-
Just to be understood.
For life to feel free-
to truly feel good.

I'm telling you now,
I know how you feel.
That tormenting anger
where happiness isnt real.

That obscured void
grows inside you everyday.
People try to get close
but you push them away.

Your wounds are on fire,
your feelings are ablaze
but they'll soon go out
and you'll see brighter days.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My inspiration for this poem came from a friend who was going to make a desperate attempt to get his message out there. I talked him out of it and i thought to myself, Why would someone go to such great lengths just to be heard? Then I kind of had a empathy epiphany and immediately went to my notebook to write it down. He must've been acting out as a result of a barren war-zone going on inside of him. Anyways, he's doing much better now and I'm actually thinking of writing a sequel to this piece on the changes he's made to his life :) I hope you enjoy it, and maybe you can relate.
