The Pain That Still Lingers Poem by Govind S Harigovindam

The Pain That Still Lingers

Rating: 5.0

To shed that skin of old and walk towards a new dawn, has proven most difficult.

To claw myself back from where my mistakes have left me, has put me in a state of terror.

The aches in the heart that I have to endure from time to time all because of that moment of madness!

A pain well beyond the profound abilities of soothing.

Engulfed by deep remorse, I look back at my past. The very past that refrains me from starting my life anew.

It has been more of what could have been than what have been in my life.

The pain does recede away as waves do giving me short respite, but they also come back like waves do with double the intensity, plunging me into the ocean of self-agony.

The people I've let down, I still see them in my dreams, some seething and infuriated while others just grievous. If I had just.....

That incident has left me with a lot to mull over and pain, that still lingers.

Beautiful write Govind. Very true said in each lines, it's the guilt which one feel make them think so. It comes as pain.. Very true said, one find it difficult to move a head as we cannot forget the past...But by always keeping engaged in some other work can help one.. Even writing down the feelings or poems can really help out to release the pain. A very poignant write. I could feel the pain in this poem! ! Keep writing. I liked the way you presented it.

An wound may leave a scar, but each time you agitate a wound it will not heal, but only cause to bleed.... Losing oneself in past follies is no way of getting redeemed! Live in the present and pledge not to repeat your past mistakes! A very poignant write!
