The Painful Memories Of Yesteryear Poem by Hebert Logerie

The Painful Memories Of Yesteryear

The memories of yesteryear are excruciatingly painful,
However, we must talk about them, we must discuss them,
So we can prevent them from happening again. It is hurtful
When some people are trying to shove them under the dam,
Under the filthy rug. We must analyze them thoroughly,
Find solutions, so we can move forward. We desire
A better tomorrow, full of joy, happiness with meticulously
Arranged baskets of fruits and bouquets of flowers
On the table. We fear the slippery slope and the hellish fire.
Let’s confront and solve the problems like family members.
We must stop the pain, the hurt, the intolerance, and the ignorance.
We must be true to ourselves. The painful memories will never be forgotten,
However, we must deal with them, stop them, and hold them with a special mitten.
We must grasp them, step on them, so they can become, for our children, powerful lessons.
