The Party Poem by I M Swan

The Party

Rating: 5.0

I went to a party at the House of Cards
Discontent and Dispair were standing guard
The Doorway to Destiny stood open wide
And a Fountain of Tears flowed just inside

With nothing to lose and nothing to gain
I danced a dance with the Prince of Pain
As the King of Fools looked on with a frown
The Joker, Reality, laughed like a clown

The Queen of Broken Hearts on her throne of sorrow
Cried 'Live for today, for there is no tomorrow'
The Weaver of Dreams and the Sandman it seems
Had the Princess of Pity collect broken dreams

The death of Desire was much talked about
As Distrust made his way cross the floor with some Doubt
As the music ended, I was escorted home by Dread
And I awoke with the guests asleep in my bed
