The Past Is The Past Poem by Francis Duggan

The Past Is The Past

The past is the past though to it we may cling
But who knows what good fortune tomorrow may bring
Tonight in tattslotto your luck may be in
Like 'tis said you've got to be in it to win

Though of past heroes and heroines in pubs singers sing
The past it has gone like the flowers of last Spring
But the present is what matters the future is ahead
Of life changing stories of big wins we have heard of and read.

Your past may be littered in stories of woe
But your past is in the past and you should leave it go
No point in lamenting of what might have been
The brown leaves of Autumn in Summer were green.

Like it has been said millions of times before
The past is the past and gone forever more
We live in the present with the future to look to
And we can learn from the past that is all we can do.
