The Path To Sanctuary Poem by Hasan Haskovic

The Path To Sanctuary

In the darkness
And the absence
Were I long stood in between
In the way of the bridge over reminiscence
Never managed the time
To witness the last of what I had
Something so sublime

So troubled
In the wake of my mistakes
The trouble I found
No matter which road the Sun takes
So innocent
So unforgiving

The road I had to take
Taking the path
To the Gods I made
Not barbed, nor vile
But simply far too silent

In the absence
In the grasp of your hand
Beneath the stars and aspirations
I knew the force I had to withstand
To cross the face of the Earth
Just to find you again

It never goes away
The eternal grief
In the sound of the leaves
In the wake of belief
That I would see her now

Now, even though things
Have never changed
No one can recognize the melody
The moan of the deranged
In the deep hours of the night

It ticks away
I'll never have it again
The absence has grown far
But things' have stayed the same since then
In the depths of old mistakes

About time I walked through the fire
About time I found my sanctuary
