The Patient Speaks Poem by Noemi Lee

The Patient Speaks

Today again I face the tube.
I remember the hell of the last time
The humiliation
The indignity
That only those who ever
Might have to go through it
Could ever understand.
Your signature means nothing
Except if it is on a credit card/loan contract
Your word?
Means nothing.
They're only looking to cover
Their behinds.
And this -
This is modern medicine.
