The Play Poem by Barry Middleton

The Play

I had a dream
and you were there
the stage we stood
upon was bare

the dream was but
a brief encore
a call that we
could not ignore

and so we played
our separate parts
like patrons
of the finer arts

before the graceful
final bow
returning us
to here and now

and as the velvet
curtain fell
the dreamland
faded to farewell

A nostalgic poetical tone very beautiful.
