The Poet Liam Ladds Poem by Francis Duggan

The Poet Liam Ladds

The poet Liam Ladds with religious types feel angry
And about god he doesn't have kind things to say
He does not understand religious people
And from their god he feels so far away.

He says if their god's so great then how come I am so poor
Or for some past life sins am I condemned to pay
For to make up the price of a pack of cigs a few bucks I must borrow
For me it's always been from day to day.

If their god's so great how come my wish has not been granted?
That like superman without wings I could fly
And people on the street would stand and stare up
And shout who is that fellow in the sky? .

If their god's so great how come I feel so powerless
And beaten by life like a deflated ball?
I am not many years beyond my prime day
Yet I'm not the man I used to be at all.

If their god's so great how come they are so ordinary
In six billion people there's not even one
Who like a bird can fly without a machine
Or faster than the sprinting cheetah run? .

The poet Liam Ladds is only in his thirties
Yet he feels he has known a better day
And he doesn't like the god fearing type of people
And about their god doesn't have kind things to say.
