The Portrait Poem by Gene Olson

The Portrait

Rating: 5.0

I find myself transfixed by the most amazing portrait
And as I examine it with a critics eye
I become more aware of the depth
And the detail on the surface
One detail stands out and I focus on it
Feeling the emotion behind it and learning from it
And I can see the complexity deep within it
Then as my consciousness broadens again
A different, but equally fascinating detail
Grabs me and pulls me back in
Again and again this process takes me
And weaves a spell around my soul
Linking me to the image before my eyes
The portrait that is your true spirit
The most beautiful and enthralling image…
You.

I agree with Tara - really tender but also so well structured, Steve

Breathtaking. The reader shares your breathtaking moment. A stunning, tender, admiring (nay, worshipful) piece of pure romanticism... grand. t x
