Crushed like the red rose underfoot
the heart blackens and dies
No more will she believe hollow promises
and dusty tears she cries
Loneliness comes to keep her company
and she excepts it with open arms
Emotions buried deep inside
to keep her safe from harm
Unforgiving she laughs at pain
believing she is untouchable
She thinks she is beyond feeling
and for love she is incapable
But somewhere deep within
a flicker of light glows
The heart beating life through the veins
unaware the blood of hope flows
As she looks deep into his eyes
the fire ignites within her soul
Helpless she gives into love
Emotions raging out of control
Out of the nightmare she awakens
from the darkness and the cold
The power of love can heal broken hearts
even mine, so I'm told

A cup full of Pathos..with a sprinkle of levity ..in the last line. ('...even mine, so I'm told.') I really enjoyed this one. (One of my favorites, in fact.) Deanna xx .
