The Praises Of A Rooster Poem by Francis Duggan

The Praises Of A Rooster

Rating: 5.0

Though many of their secrets from us hidden away
From Nature's creatures we learn something new every day
The rooster for his hens he genuinely does care
To the food that he finds he calls them with him for to share
When compared to the generosity of the rooster some humans seem small
In his unselfishness towards his hens a lesson for us all
Yes a lesson for all and that includes me too
He treats his wives far better than most human males do,
The praises of a rooster few bother to sing
But his love and loyalty for his hens is an amazing thing
In Nature for us there are lessons and far more than a few
And from her every day we do learn something new
The food he does find with his hens he does share
In Nature unselfishness is never rare.
