The Present: A Divine Gift Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Present: A Divine Gift

It is a noble pursuit to carve and cultivate great plans for a brighter tomorrow, a future illuminated by hope and aspiration. Yet, let us not be weighed down by the shadows of difficulties that may lie ahead, nor shackled by the chains of regrets from a past that cannot be undone. These burdens, if carried, will obscure the light of the present—our most sacred gift—and sap the will needed to shape the future we long for.

As we stand in the moment, let us reflect with purpose. Examine your strengths with pride, acknowledge your weaknesses with grace, seize your opportunities with courage, and chart your targets with clarity. Yet, remember this: planning is not an offering that demands the sacrifice of today. The future is not a distant horizon—it is a thread woven into the fabric of the present. Each moment we cherish, each step we take in mindfulness, lays the foundation for what is to come.

God, in infinite wisdom, bestowed upon us the 'present' not as a fleeting second, but as a reminder. A reminder to breathe in the beauty of today, to embrace the gentle grace of each moment, and to find contentment in the simplicity of what we already possess. In the here and now lies the power to cultivate peace, to nurture gratitude, and to draw fulfillment into the rhythm of our lives.

Let us honor this divine gift, allowing the joy of today to nourish the seeds of tomorrow. In focusing on the present, we do not abandon the future; instead, we craft it with care, guided by the clarity of a mind rooted in the now, and the heart aglow with serenity.
