The Procession Poem by Half Past

The Procession

Each person entered and slowly passed on by

some with a nod, a wink, a whimper, or sigh

somber in mood with rememberance in eye

they gathered to send their loved one away

for a soul that so dearly kept them in sway

on this dreary cold quiet winterswept day

many started this morn with sadness in heart

but as people were seated and the funeral did start

something magical happened to each person in part

memories came forth of many a fond happy time

eyes grew bright and smiles did shine

no longer did people weep, cryout, or pine

as stories came out in a labor of love

gently and kindly without a push or a shove

they sent that soul merrily on its way up above

if you listen closely you can hear the bell ring

now in heaven one more angel does sing

watching over us all on halo and wing...
