The Psychotic Poem by Antero K. Caña Jr.

The Psychotic

It all began…

One by one they left after my fall
Badly beaten by a ruthless war
I count the dead, my body included
In a pool of blood, the lifeless lay
I took a step but walked away
Know the dead has nothing to say

All that is left of me
Is but a dream to be
Blown from afar
Wish from a falling star
In my desperate strife
I lost a precious life
Caused by a stormy weather
Found no place I can call better
None in me is even sweeter.

The past haunts me with each passing day
Left a bloody footprint in a crucial time of dismay
My spirit is long dead and gone
My heaven is silent, I am done.

Defeat is a struggle’s end - - a mourning
But death, they say, is a start of a life unending
Kindly lay a wreath above my coffin
Here’s a fellow who took a breath, heartbroken.

Is there life after death, anyway?
Your guess is as good as mine, I say.

The aftermath…

He jump, run and throw a paper with a scribbled note
It says, Thank you for reading what a foolish man wrote
Then the limp psycho-man stride away with flair
Blown by the wind, the paper in an epitaph fell
“Here lies a man with writings worthless to tell
Leave it as it may
Poems, in time, will always stay
But persons like me, come and go
Hope this piece will be loved by you.”

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The poem is dedicated to my grade VI teacher Vive T. Gimenez Mamintes who taught me the basic education in English.

Her teachings paved the way for my writing career up to this day.

The story line of the poem centered on life's struggle of a person - but failures lead to a suicide - the author of whom was an onlooker

Part of the poem is the life of the author in reality.

The poem, The Psychotic, was finalized on July 5,2012, my birthday.
