The Pursuit Of Happiness Poem by Mark Heathcote

The Pursuit Of Happiness

Never lose your will to live, love and laugh
explore at length the length of a giraffe
to peep over tall walls and walk with grace
through the long grass, the weeds so commonplace
to find a bloom flowering fresh and new.
Be brave, my child-in-everything you do.

Brave as a lion, but don't maw a cacti
or bury your heart so deep only gadfly
can dig it up and make it beat again
be bold, don't be a tragedienne
an actress in a Shakespearean role
make the pursuit of happiness your goal.
