The Rabbit Hole Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Rabbit Hole

How deep does the rabbit hole go?
Too many people don't want to know.
They're afraid they might come upon
something not so nice.
Isn't it easier to just skate
over very thin ice?
No worries, no frets of any kind,
it's much more comfortable for the mind.
Don't look left. Don't look right,
just straight ahead is what's in their sight.

Now take the ones whose heads can turn,
they are the people whose minds do yearn
to see how deep the rabbit hole goes?
What they will find will surely expose

Why we are filled with insecurity?
What's at the bottom of inequality?
Why some never have prosperity?
And so much more will come to light
and these are the brave that will take up the fight
and try to fill the rabbit hole
so the complacent ones who pay the toll
might have a chance to save their soul.

Now rabbit holes are dug deeper each day
by the power that wants you to have no say.
They want control over all that you are.
They will do all they can to block the star
that shines for you on every night.
They would love to keep you away from that sight.
For then they've got you and your soul
deep in the bowels of the rabbit hole.
