The Race Poem by emily summers

The Race

My worries melt away,
my soul is once again purified,
my emotions a balanced,
my thoughts are simple,
my mind is open,
my mouth is closed,
my face is full of concentration,
I'm focused on the goal,
my cheeks are turning a shade of scarlet,
my chest is beginning to tighten,
I am determined,
my ambition is only one,
I sprint past the groups of joggers with ease,
I wonder if i'll beat my best time,
I pause for a split second to quench my thirst,
I speed up, as if i have super charge,
and I see the finish line,
I am overwhelmed with emotions of relief,
