The Real Meaning Of Christmas! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Real Meaning Of Christmas!

For the real meaning of Christmas look first to Christ Himself
Not to your wallet or your purse or monetary wealth.
Behold God's purpose and God's plan not gifts beneath your tree.
For Christ's true God compressed to Man! Behold humility!

Behold the prophecies once made to signify God's Son!
With angels' praises proudly played not hid from everyone!
Recount the tales of shepherds' stares at angels up above!
The Saviour's born as Mary bears the portrait of God's Love!

Think not that kings must always sleep on beds of purest gold!
Think not that kings are meant to keep appearances so bold!
God's Son was born in Bethlehem, decreed to scribes long gone...
A mighty vision unto them, a faith to build upon!

Religious men knew ancient truths with foresights sent from God!
They saw Christ's miracles as proofs, but Romans sought His Blood!
Yet from Christ's death new life is given! His sacrifice saves souls!
Through Him, believers look to Heaven and live for higher goals!

December's hopes and dreams and joys aren't built on worthless tales!
Nor are they built for girls and boys forgetting Easter's nails!
Man needs a Saviour, Go-Between and Mediator, too...
Our Advocate's the Nazarene... who died for me... and you!

Rejoice in Christ who left His Home, His Throne and Father's side
To live and die yet conquer Rome who sought Him crucified!
Death's but a door! Yet Christ's the Key! To Heaven, He's the Way!
To those who've prayed at Calvary, Christ's more than Christmas Day...
