The Recipe Of Love Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

The Recipe Of Love

Take a heart, unguarded,
soft as morning light spilling through
an open window,
where shadows are gentle, not
secrets but whispers.

Add a glance-no, not just any glance-
the kind that pauses time,
stretches a moment until it hums
quietly between two souls,
like the space between waves
before they kiss the shore.

Stir in laughter, unpolished and true,
the kind that escapes without permission,
filling the air with something warmer than sunlight.

Fold in silence-not empty, but full-
where words are unnecessary
because breath and presence
are enough to carry meaning.

Sprinkle trust, like salt over ripe tomatoes,
simple yet essential,
sharp enough to remind you it's real.

Add patience, measured not in minutes
but in heartbeats,
letting it rise slowly, like bread left to prove,
softening with time,
deepening with every waiting.

And finally, pour in courage-
not loud, not grand-
just the quiet bravery to be seen,
as you are,
with all the fragile pieces held out
like offerings.

Let it sit in the warmth of closeness,
where it grows without force,
where it breathes.

This is love-
not a recipe to be perfected,
but one to be felt,
improvised,
and savored.
