The Reflection Poem by Adora Williams

The Reflection

There's a war within me, I reflect
The golden of me, the aspect that should enlighten
Wants to commit treason and fight
Against itself

I reflect
The blue of me, on the other side
In a place that hasn't become hollow yet
The place that still needs words - my own - to reflect
It tries at all costs to reach the golden illumination
From the gold the resists
The gold that persists
In becoming blue
For the reflection

I'm reversed, I'm all reversed
Since I first came to see the sun of life
At night
And I thought it was day

As of then, I reverse everything
Be by accident, be by meaning
At all times I meant to complicate
Things for the sake of a reflection
I reflect

And before I finish the last reflection of the night
Ere the sun approaching the horizon line
I completely changed my mind

And decided to reverse my last line
When the day reflects
Me
