The Last Glimmer Poem by Adora Williams

The Last Glimmer

Relive the good moments I didn't live soon enough
And wait for the world to end — I thought

Light will expel me eventually
It will stand between me and the darkness
Because my existence here
Is unnatural — I feared. And I hoped

But, before I could close the lid,
The remains of what once was
The time of rebirth
In a culture that becomes obsolete as I write
Push me back
Lit the candles

And angels sing
No one has been walking in their shoes since the last equinox
