The Residing Stranger Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

The Residing Stranger

Rating: 5.0

On a grassy hillside near pounding ocean waves
A huge rock majestically stands firmly implanted
For thousands of years the stone remained stationary
Yet this lifeless rock is environmentally enchanted

By day the rays of the sun warm its countenance
Superficially it is drab but just beneath the surface
It has a glimmer that is dormant to observing eyes
As sea gulls glide high above in a veiled damp mist

A rainbow forms magically in the beautiful filmy spray
Delicate blue flowers grow from soil with aging fossils
Bees in flight hum… capable of inducing a swelling sting
Intoxicated by the lure of pollen… they become docile

The huge gray rock is impressed with its surroundings
An orange glow sinks into the distant depths of the ocean
The heart of the ocean continues to beat with a rhythm
Stirring celestial recollections of creation that blazed on

From the inner core of an uncommon rock’s demeanor
Faint memories occur of streaking brightly across the sky…
To a planet called Earth…a rare location offering a firm bed
The meteor rests in a paradise that makes it feel alive

I liked the idea of the meteor implanting itself near the seaside after hurtling through space. The poem is very readable indeed. Thanks Theresa.
