The Ring Poem by Dave Dullum

The Ring

Rating: 4.0

It's now time to open your gift from me.
Gifts of tin and glass wear out in a day and are gone. I have a better gift for you.

It is for you to wear, it sparkles with a special kind of light and cannot be destroyed. You are the only person that can see the light, I have given you this day, as I was the only person who could see it when it was given to me.
The ring gives you a new ability, wearing it can lift you up onto birds wings that can fly, you can see through their golden eyes and feel the air beneath their wings. You can know the joy of going up high above the world and all its cares;
You can stay up in the sky as long as you want, pass the night, through the dawn, and when you feel like coming down you will find that your worries will be gone.

As you will know anything that can't be seen or touched, your gift from me will grow more powerful as you use it;
At first you might only use it watching the bird with whom you fly, later on if you use it well, you will find that you not need the Ring or birds to fly above the clouds.
When that day arrives you must give it to someone else who can learn that the only things that matter are things made of truth, joy, and love.

Every gift from me is a wish for your Happiness and Love, because you are part of me as I am part of you;
So it is with this Ring of Love and Happiness that I give you this day.
