The River Of Life Poem by Alma F. Martin

The River Of Life

A poem for River, I shall write
To keep forever in your might.
Around your self my arms shall clutch
and hold you tight within my touch.

Safe & sound shall you forever be
As I grip you very close to me.
No harm will ever come your way
Since in daily fervence I pray & pray

To the Lord, God, - of all Creation!
Do I make my pure oblation
For your safety and your health
And your life and your wealth.

Forever shall you walk in love & peace
Even when war & crime ne’er cease.
It shall extend years on down the line
To your great-grandchildren as a sign

That your loving mother who loves you so
Will never let your essence go.
And even if we are light-years apart
I stand in the gap with all my heart

In faith & trust of God above
I stand before Him to judge in love
And in His hands do I place our souls
To keep us united in our roles.

I have not given up and do believe
That soon we shall together be free.
And all these years I have waited
For your return never debated.

This River of mine that is made my child
I bless with love & in tenderness smile.
I love you, River!
