The River Thames Poem by Pippa Moss

The River Thames

Never underestimate a river's charm
The lapping sound, that sense of calm
The ribbon through the bustling city
The bridges which are truly pretty.

It might look grey, it might look blue
Every day you'll spot there's something new
The new luxury flats or riverside bar
Enjoying the walk instead of the car.

The tide could be out with a beach of treasure
Find an old pipe, be amazed at the pleasure
The noise from the boats ‘Look to your right..'
The colourful reflections you see at night.

Who's stood on the bank, gained peace of some sort?
Who's looked at the water and had a new thought?
The breeze, the waves, the views, the sound
If I'm taking a breather, it's where I'll be found.
