The Road Poem by dave lessard

The Road

Down an unknown street
I lost my way
confused and puzzled
hesitant to stay

I wound up on a
dead-end street
stood there staring
down at my feet

I followed lights
back into town
still lost and
not yet found

I thumbed a ride
"where to? " he said
"anywhere but here, "
I plead

he drove me to
the road of truth
the path to God
that has no roof
