The road that was walked by my father and mother
It was also walked by my oldest brother,
Then my other brother decided to take the route
And he did it without a scream or a cry or a shout.
That road was once also walked by my grandma
And later it was walked by my grandpa,
They never took that road at the very same time
Grandpa needed more steps to climb.
The road was also walked later by my uncles
When once before they carried the shovels,
And it was also by walked by my aunts
They took the road in search of a long forgotten romance.
One day I too will walk that road
And I will walk it both bravely and bold,
And when that time comes I won't be hesitant or balk
Because, one day that road we all must walk.
