The Rose Poem by Jason Kelly

The Rose

Rating: 4.0

The sun rose over the tree tops this morning,
Light shined across the land,
Light brought strengthen to our love,
And our love rose again,
Rose from it shadowy grave
Into a beautiful flower which in the garden grows
Into that of a red, red rose.
And our love grew and grew,
Until one day, as the sun of our love began fade
and the pedals began to die
And fall away, and the sky became as gray
And winter lay upon the land,
And my cold and broken heart
cannot begin to understand,
The pain of the love I lost
The love that died like the red, red rose
Which in the garden of our life grew .
