The Scenic Drive Poem by Loyd C Taylor Sr

The Scenic Drive

There's certain anticipation
When I start out
Maybe it's a fixation
At times I want to shout

Look at the luscious meadows green
See the Smoky Mountains high
Or yon eagle flying majestically
In the Carolina blue sky

Hear the Whip-o-will's lonely cry
Calling out from the trees
Feel the warm sun on your skin
Smell the ocean breeze

Listen to the splashing
Of fish in sparkling stream
Watch the golden sunrise
Admit, it's not a dream

Drive down her winding roads
As farmlands come in view
Drink from her crystal springs
Hear the Atlantic welcome you

Run barefoot in the valley
Note the diamond like dew
As clover tickles your feet
Taste the honeysuckle sweet

Take in the fragrance of flower
Feel the soft gentle rain
Take a spell to rest a bit
Then take the scenic drive again
