The Second Man Poem by Sylvie Hauser

The Second Man

Walk up to two people who claim to believe.
Then ask, 'To your God, how true can you be? '

The first man will kneel in front of your feet,
and pray for hours, hoping the Lord he will meet.

The second man sees two paths and takes the other.
He helps out his Brother, and lives for another.

Though the first man may boast and call himself true,
the second man was the wiser of the two.

For through all of his service and hard work and love,
he has seen the one we all dream of.

He saw Jesus's face in the face of another,
who has been changed for the better because of the second man, his Brother.
