The Sex Was Better Poem by Richard Ponsonby

The Sex Was Better

Rating: 5.0

I had a girl, her name it doesn't matter
To give my work to her, would only flatter
She had a partner, but eyes for me
I tried to ignore her
She was all I could see
Briefly we were able to express our love
But it was crushed by those above
Wait for me, I'll give you it all
And so I waited for her to call
In the agony of time I lost my mind
Then she visited one more time
I'd written her poems and begged her to stay
She was resolute that this day it ends
Suggesting her former lover and I, remain friends
She wore a ring from another guy
And she was determined to go away
I waited again for her contrite letter
But then I realised
She'd found sex which was better.
