The Siege Of The Flower Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

The Siege Of The Flower

The siege of the flower
Was
Also the martyrdom of the flower:
Under the blows it
Withered, first
Then a petal fell
Then another petal
And another
And another
Till without petals
Stood the bending flower
Then it stalk withered
Withered
Gasping:
‘Heavens immense forgive'
Then
Fell sudden to the soil
The martyred flower.
