Silence is not a punishment
For lack of words to speak,
Silence brings the knowledge
Of a voice a soul can keep.
A voice that has a meaning,
A deeper sense of sound,
One that walks in shadows,
When your light's been dying down.
It brings with it security
That your days are never lost,
They take a rest sometimes
To where that silence has no cost.
Rewards are given hungrily
And taken day by day,
In a generous abundance
Of a lighter sound of day.
