The Singing Heart Poem by Edwina Reizer

The Singing Heart

Does your heart fret
or does it sing?
The problem with fretting is
it will only bring
more worry, more stewing
that makes things worse.
I think when we do it
it's an abominable curse.

The beauty of singing
is how it can heal
all of the problems
that make your heart feel
lighter, unemcumbered
by worry and stress.
A song is wonderful for the ear to hear
and for the heart it's a sweet caress.

The heart must be treated on every day
like a brand new melody's come its way.
And when you rest and sleep at night
let a lullaby bring it sweet delight.

For a heart that's never allowed to sing
is a fretful, worrisome hurtful thing.
So ask what it is that can make your heart sing?
Then do it,
You'll be amazed by what it will bring.
