Open the church door!
They all did scream and implore,
We are all full of sin
So, please, please let us in.
But, the church would not allow it
They all would of had a fit,
They wouldn't allow them none inside
So, from them they all did hide.
We do not like how you dress
The members at the church all did confess,
We don't like the tattoos that you wear
Or how people always stare.
We don't like where you live
We don't like that you never give,
And you have never given any tithes
And you never helped to organize.
The congregation and the pastor then did say
Please, please walk away,
You're not cut from the same cloth as us
You don't need to know Jesus.
You don't vote the way that we vote
And you don't read and believe what we wrote,
And I say this with all certainty
You wouldn't like or fit in with our family.
So, on the church door they stopped knocking
Away from that church they began walking,
Then they walked to the other part of the city
Where you also see the poor and the needy.
Then they stopped at another church to enter
And they happily allowed in the sinner,
The pastor and the congregation said to them
Let us worship and sing the Lord a hymn.
