The Smile That Was Taken Poem by Lauren Rooney

The Smile That Was Taken

Cheeky eyes, and cheeky smile
but caring through and through.
I never doubted you loved me
because I always knew.

With others always in your thoughts
looking after them
though you were not seeking glory
you were only seeking friends.

No-one wasn't worthy
you never thought to hate
you cared for everyone you met
and considered them your mate.

Then one day you suddenly left us, you
suddenly, were gone
how we get over this?
how could we move on?

But if we think about you
an what you would have said
we know you'd want us to
dry our tears, and smile with you instead.

As now you are an angel,
as on earth you were,
up there looking after us
we know your happy there.

Everyday we miss you
easier's never here
but everytime we can smile
and laugh, we know that you are near.
